Random early detection-quadratic linear: an enhanced active queue management algorithm

چکیده

This paper identifies the lone linear drop function for computing dropping probability between certain queue threshold values as a major weakness random early detection (RED) algorithm it leads to large delay and instability. To address this concern, we propose an enhanced RED-based called detection-quadratic (referred “RED-QL”) active management (AQM) which leveraged benefit of quadratic packet light-to moderate traffic load conditions together with heavy condition respectively. Results from ns-3 network simulator using different experimental scenarios clearly reveals that proposed RED-QL yields substantial reduction in performance indeed reduced average size than other three representative AQM algorithms. is robust, easy implement deploy routers (both software hardware) no more profile classic RED’s implementation needs modest alteration.

An Improvement over Random Early Detection Algorithm: A Self-Tuning Approach

Random Early Detection (RED) is one of the most commonly used Active Queue Management (AQM) algorithms that is recommended by IETF for deployment in the network. Although RED provides low average queuing delay and high throughput at the same time, but effectiveness of RED is highly sensitive to the RED parameters setting. As network condition varies largely, setting RED's parameters with fixed ...

SPI: An Active Queue Management Algorithm for HSTCP

In this paper, a Scalable Proportional Integral (SPI) active queue management (AQM) algorithm for High Speed TCP (HSTCP) is proposed. Based on the linearization model for HSTCP, we give a stability analysis for the closed loop interconnection systems (HSTCP and SPI AQM). Then, an adaptive parameters setting method for SPI AQM is presented. Using ns2 simulation, we illustrate that SPI shows sati...

Active Queue Management: Comparison of Sliding Mode Controller and Linear Quadratic Regulator

Active Queue Management (AQM) takes a trade-off between link utilization and delay experienced by data packets. From control point of view, it is rational to regard AQM as a typical regulation system. In this paper, two types of controllers, i.e. Sliding Mode Variable Structure (SMVS) controller and optimal Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) are designed for AQM. Simulation results conform the ro...

An Enhanced Random Early Marking Algorithm for Internet Flow Control

We propose earlier an optimization based flow control for the Internet called Random Early Marking (REM). In this paper we propose and evaluate an enhancement that attempts to speed up the convergence of REM in the face of large feedback delays. REM can be regarded as an implementation of an optimization algorithm in a distributed network. The basic idea is to treat the optimization algorithm a...

An Active Queue Management Scheme for Internet

In this paper, we propose a new active queue management algorithm, called Average Rate Early Detection (ARED). An ARED gateway measures/uses the average packet enqueue rate as a congestion indicator, and judiciously signals end hosts of incipient congestion, with the objective of reducing packet loss ratio and improving link utilization. We show (via simulation in ns-2) that the performance of ...
